I Have a Few Questions for Gina Haspel

I was kidnapped from oust in Southeast Asia and covertly imprisoned in one of Libya's most exceedingly terrible cells. Be that as it may, the most noticeably bad torment of my life wasn't done to me by Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi's hooligans. It was done in Thailand on account of the C.I.A.

It was March 2004. Amid this bad dream — my confinement and "version" to Libya — I was pregnant. In no time a short time later, I conceived an offspring. After what the C.I.A. did to me, my infant measured four pounds.

Presently I hear that Gina Haspel, who as a C.I.A. officer ran a dark site in Thailand in 2002 that sounds like the one where I was tormented, has been driven the entire organization. On Wednesday, the Senate Intelligence Committee will scrutinize her to choose whether she is fit to be executive.

I realize what I'd inquire as to whether I found the opportunity. Did you think about my snatching and manhandle? Is it accurate to say that you were included with it? What will you say if President Trump requests that you accomplish something to that effect once more?

I'll always remember seeing my ruffians, dressed all in dark and wearing ski covers, sitting tight for me in a white cell in the Bangkok detainment site. My better half and I had fled Colonel Qaddafi's administration, moving from nation to nation to avoid his executioners. We were en route to Europe when we were seized in Malaysia and sent to Bangkok, where the Thais gave us to our ruffians — individuals I now know, from records found in Libya, were with the C.I.A. A man got my head and pushed me into a truck. They blindfolded and trussed me.

I don't comprehend why I was taken. I expect that the C.I.A. pursued my significant other in light of the fact that he drove an Islamist amass that straightforwardly restricted the Qaddafi autocracy. However, what did that need to do with me? I originate from a residential community in Morocco. I was not a political dissenter. I'd never been to Libya until the C.I.A. flew me there, and I never implied the United States any damage. I scarcely pondered the United States until the point that I was tied to the divider in the C.I.A. dark site.

I have no clue to what extent I was in the Thai mystery jail on the grounds that nobody would give me a chance to rest. The cell was white and stark, with nothing in it except for a camera and snares on the divider. The veiled abductors were pausing. I was panicked. They affixed me to the snares. Since I was halfway through my pregnancy, I could scarcely move or sit.

Some of what they did to me in that jail was so horrendous I can't discuss it. They hit me in the stomach area exactly where the child was. To move me, they bound me to a stretcher from make a beeline for toe, similar to a mummy. I was certain I would without further ado be executed.

For the version flight to Libya, I was taped to a stretcher once more. The tape got the edge of my attention. It remained as such, my eye taped open, tears spilling down my face, for over 14 hours.

After I spent half a month in a Libyan jail, Colonel Qaddafi's government agents dragged a bunk into my cell. I was gravely sick. On the off chance that I survived this, I figured, I would be compelled to conceive an offspring, alone, in this dingy cell.

Without further ado before I conveyed, they let me go. The birth was hard. My child and I lived in fear in Libya for a considerable length of time. My significant other was in jail until 2010 and fiercely tormented. We now live in Istanbul with our family.

I don't comprehend what Ms. Haspel's part in the end result for me was or what she supposes about it. All I know is the thing that I read: that she ran a jail in Thailand that sounds a ton like mine; that she backpedaled to the C.I.A. to take a shot at counterterrorism; and that later, she was engaged with obliterating confirmation of torment.

The chief of national insight has said that Ms. Haspel "plans to be absolutely straightforward" about what she did. I trust she will be addressed about my case and whether she approves it. On the off chance that she had an influence, she ought to apologize. On the off chance that she didn't, she ought to swear under pledge that the C.I.A. under her order will never again complete kidnappings like mine.

I likewise read that the C.I.A. says America's outside partners regard Ms. Haspel. Perhaps so. Be that as it may, if America needs to induce the Muslim world it intends no mischief, in the event that it needs to recover lost trust, the C.I.A. can't disregard history with the expectation that it will leave. Individuals recall treachery for quite a while. The main answer is to clarify what happened.

Indeed, even now, subsequent to all that I experienced, I don't consider severely Americans. Truth be told, I think Americans merit genuineness from their insight officers. I don't accept most customary individuals would have bolstered what the C.I.A. did to me on the off chance that they'd known.

I won't get the opportunity to ask Ms. Haspel these inquiries, however I trust a congressperson will. What's more, on the off chance that she wasn't included, and feels in her heart that tormenting me wasn't right, she should say as much.

ALTERNATIVES TO EINSTEIN’S THEORY OF GRAVITY

Miguel Zumalacárregui knows what it feels like when theories die. In September 2017, he was at the Institute for Theoretical Physics in Saclay, near Paris, to speak at a meeting about dark energy and modified gravity. The official news had not yet broken about an epochal astronomical measurement—the detection, by gravitational wave detectors as well as many other telescopes, of a collision between two neutron stars—but a controversial tweet had lit a firestorm of rumor in the astronomical community, and excited researchers were discussing the discovery in hushed tones.

BEST WAY TO KEEP HACKERS OUT OF YOUR FACEBOOK AND TWITTER ACCOUNTS

IT'S IMPORTANT TO proactively secure your social media accounts, especially since you never know when an innocuous mistake could put you at risk. But it isn't just a theoretical threat. Pranksters, vandals, and malicious attackers all look for ways to get into any legitimate account they can. So while you don't need to hide in a hole, there are some worthwhile (and easy!) steps you can take to keep your accounts from being hijacked.

Make the Most of Your Device Lockscreen

Set all of your computing devices to lock quickly when you stop using them so you have protection from physical attacks. This mostly applies to reducing pranks and blocking rogue toddlers, but it doesn't hurt for defending against more extreme targeting as well. And don't forget to use a strong passcode or biometric to guard devices. If the unlock code for your phone is your birthday, you're not making it that difficult for someone to break in.

Use a Strong, Unique Password and Two-Factor Authentication

Dealing with passwords and two-factor is the single most important thing you can do to lock accounts down—that's why you've heard it a million times. One of the easiest ways someone can get into your account is by acquiring leaked credentials, and trying those email and password combinations across on other services. That threat goes away if you use different passwords across all of your accounts. (To make that a little easier, pick up a password manager.)

While using strong, unique passwords and two-factor isn't foolproof, for most people the combination drastically reduces the chance that their social media accounts will ever be compromised.

Remote Control

Facebook has a few options to help keep on top of who's accessing your account, and where. Under Settings > Security and Login, you can see all the devices your account is logged in on, and where they are. See something you don't recognize, or a device you've lost track of? The right-hand icon gives you the option of logging out remotely, or reporting it as an imposter.
From there, scroll down to Get alerts about unrecognized logins, and turn it on. That way, you'll get a notification via Messenger, email, or Facebook that someone has logged into your account from an unrecognized browser. Twitter doesn't offer a similar function—all the more reason to make sure you've got two-factor on for it

Limit Third-Party Permissions

Though it would be difficult for an attacker to take over one of your social media accounts through a third-party service that has some access, it's worth checking out what you've approved to ensure that there's nothing phishy in the list, and remove old plugins that you no longer need. You could have granted them permission to gather more data than you think. That's not a hack, exactly, but it's still invasive.
On Facebook, go to Settings > Apps and Websites to view and manage the outside services that have some access to your Facebook account.

On Twitter, go to Settings and Privacy > Apps to see and edit the list.

Check Device Permissions

Also check the permissions services like Facebook and Twitter have on each of your devices. You might have blocked Facebook from accessing your location on your smartphone, but accidentally allowed it on your tablet because you weren't paying attention. This data should be safe on accounts that are guarded by a strong password and two-factor authentication, but if you don't want a service gathering it anyway you might as well turn it off.
On Android, go to Settings > Apps, then click the upper-right menu icon, and tap App permissions.

Parkland Survivor Says Trump Is A “Professional Liar” After NRA Speech

A survivor of the Parkland school shooting ripped into President Donald Trump on Saturday for his speech to the National Rifle Association a day earlier, calling the president a “professional liar.”
Speaking on Friday at the NRA’s annual convention for the third time, Trump reaffirmed his loyalty to the gun lobby. “Your Second Amendment rights are under siege, but they will never, ever be under siege as long as I’m your president,” he said.
Cameron Kasky, a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, gave his reaction Saturday on CNN’s New Day. “He’s a professional liar who will say anything to appease whatever crowd he’s at,” Kasky said. “If he’s in front of families, he might say something in support of common-sense gun reform, but then when he’s at the NRA, he’ll say something to get a big cheer.”

Both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, who also spoke on Friday, told the NRA they support arming teachers and “good guys with guns” to stop mass shootings. The NRA frequently claimsthat putting more guns in schools would deter shootings like the one in Parkland, although there’s no evidence that arming civilians prevents mass shootings.
Kasky also pointed out the “hypocrisy” that firearms were not allowed in the room as Trump and Pence gave their speeches. “You’d think that if someone supported the NRA, they’d want as many ‘good guys with guns’ in the room as possible, right?” he said.

For a brief period after the Parkland shooting in February, Trump suggestedhe was open to new gun control measures, telling lawmakers, “Take the guns first, go through due process second.” Pressured by the Parkland survivors, lawmakers, and gun control advocates to act after the shooting killed 17 people, the White House floated a proposal to raise the minimum age for purchasing some guns to 21. But Trump eventually dropped that idea under pressure from the NRA, instead proposing other reforms, including grants for “rigorous firearms training” for teachers and improving local compliance with the National Institute Criminal Background Check System.

Istanbul Airport suspected ISIS bombers were Uzbek, Russian, Kyrgyz

Three suspected Islamic State (ISIS) suicide bombers who killed 43 people in a gun and bomb attack at Istanbul's main airport this week were Russian, Uzbek and Kyrgyz nationals, a Turkish government official said on Thursday June 30.

The suicide bombers opened fire to create panic outside, before two of them got inside the terminal building and blew themselves up. The third detonated his explosives at the entrance. At least 239 people were wounded in the attack.

According to Reuters, the Turkey official who confirmed the terrorists' nationalities, declined to be named because details of the investigation have not yet been released. Forensics teams had been struggling to identify the bombers from their limited remains, officials said earlier.

"A medical team is working around the clock to conclude the identification process," one of the officials said.
Interior Minister Efkan Ala told parliament that evidence continued to point to ISIS responsibility and that the death toll had risen to 43, of whom 19 were foreigners. Ala said the identity and nationality of one of the bombers had been determined but did not comment further.

The pro-government Yeni Safak newspaper said the Russian bomber was from Dagestan, which borders Chechnya. Turkey's Hurriyet newspaper named him as Osman Vadinov and said he had come from Raqqa, the heart of Islamic State-controlled territory in Syria.

The Russian interior ministry said it was checking information about Vadinov. A spokesman for Kyrgyzstan's state security service said it was investigating, while the Uzbek security service had no immediate comment.

Saudi Arabian Women To Be Punished For Checking Husband’s Phone Without His Consent :FunnyLaw

A clever law has been gone in Saudi Arabia that will rebuff ladies by beating or detainment in the event that they check their better half's telephone without his assent.

Senior Saudi legal advisor, Mohammad al-Temyat, has said the demonstration is presently a criminal offense and will be arraigned as an infringement of security since it is not secured in the nation's Islamic laws.

Temyat affirmed to a neighborhood daily paper that liable persons would be brought under the steady gaze of the court if a claim was recorded against them.

He said:

I might want to illuminate that this subject includes the spouse and the wife and it is a Ta'zir offense so it is conceivable that there is a beating, a fine, detainment, simply marking a vow or notwithstanding nothing.

It is a Ta'zir offense not distinguished legitimately, so the discipline is reliant on the harm brought on from it. In the event that there was no harm brought on, there could be no discipline.

The new law is one of the social changes program began by the nation's top dog, Salman Saudi, called The Family Security Program – where Telmat additionally serves as a lawful counselor.

The system is a piece of the Health Affairs branch of the Ministry of National Guard and was built up by Royal announcement in 2005 to enhance access to social administrations.

Suffocating in the smoke of waste burning -Hungary

An online survey about domestic waste burning was carried out by the environmental NGO Clean Air Action Group (Levegő Munkacsoport); 415 people filled out the questionnaire within two weeks. The survey is not representative, but the data can be considered reliable as they reflect the information obtained from the enormous number of complaints Clean Air Action Group received over the past years. Waste burning is only allowed in specialized facilities with stringent filtering systems. Only a handful of them can be found in Hungary, and their air pollution is negligible. Unfortunately, a lot of people burn waste in their stoves, furnaces or backyards, which is extremely harmful to our health. Based on the responses, this problem is just as prevalent in Budapest as in other parts of the country. From all respondents, 45% reported that illegal waste burning is a daily occurrence. People mostly burn domestic waste, but furniture, PVC, rubber and rags are on the list as well. Most of the people who replied either do nothing (28%) about illegal waste burning, or they try to explain (26%) the severe health consequences to those who are burning waste. They rarely turn to the municipality (19%), the government office (8%), the police (7%) or the county office (6%).

Unfortunately, the authorities do not take any measures in the majority of the reported cases (57%). Even if an investigation is started, it rarely leads to results. Only 3 persons reported that the waste burning stopped as a result of the intervention by an authority. Most people think that ignorance is the main cause of waste burning (56%), 30% believes that it is caused by a mix of poverty and lack of information, and only 5% thinks it is only because of poverty. „The government has a huge responsibility, because a proper public awareness campaign is a very cost-effective way to significantly decrease air pollution from household waste burning” – said Péter Lenkei, Head of the Environmental Advisory Office of Clean Air Action Group. „Procrastination in this case raises special concerns since the damage to Hungary’s economy from air pollution alone is equal to 19% of our GDP according to WHO.” NGOs can play a very important role in raising awareness. Clean Air Action Group took part in several procedures concerning waste burning, and could stop illegal activities together with the authorities in a large part of these cases. If the authorities are properly informed, the procedures can be faster and more efficient. Clean Air Action Group gathered this data between 7th and 20th April 2016 under K-Monitor’s „Adatozz okosan!” project.

He added, “As much as he wants to go out and live his life, that will always be part of him. If she’s in play, it changes his whole perspective.”
